Portable and Mobile 2-Way Radios

Solutions for every application

We offer and support a broad selection of analog and digital products tailored to your specific requirements.

  • NXDN (NEXEDGE and IDAS) is an international digital protocol that supports very narrow bandwidth operation at 6.25 kHz while also allowing analog 12.5 kHz operation within the same radio, combining analog and digital capability in a single platform.
  • Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is an international standard protocol that supports either a single 12.5 kHz analog channel or two 6.25 kHz digital channels within the same 12.5 kHz bandwidth. DMR standards require cross-manufacturer compatibility, allowing users to choose equipment based on features and price, though some manufacturers implement proprietary features beyond the core standard.
  • P25 is an international standard protocol primarily used by public safety agencies and large utilities that provides full backward compatibility with analog operation, Phase I FDMA digital, and Phase II TDMA. Phase I offers the greatest coverage per site, while Phase II doubles voice channel capacity at the expense of range.

Radios operate within specific frequency bands designated and licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Each band offers distinct advantages and limitations, making an engineered solution essential for optimal performance. JES also provides professional services to support all FCC licensing requirements.
